My wiper switch has been jacked up for quite a while. It works, sometimes by itself, sometimes it won’t shut off, just generally jacked.
My dilemma has been that I don’t want anything but the original style washer nut and original knob showing and I have yet to find a good used original.
Anyway, I found a new “replacement” at American Classics that had the right threads for the washer nut. That was a plus. However, the [censored] knob that came with it had about ½ the diameter of the original. I didn’t have pipe to use as a spacer, duct tape was to squishy, you know, all the normal bubba stuff wasn’t working.
So I went super bubba.
I put the old switch in a vise and drilled it out to a tight fit over the new switch shaft. It left the old shaft thin, but substantial enough to hold up well. I recommend drilling and fitting it before cutting the old one off.
