Has anyone found a list of Canadian paint codes for 1953? Found lots for U.S. but the GM Canada paint codes are very different.

For instance, Chevy 3100 Made in Canada with Paint 341 and Trim 394. (Engine is C662576)

Found one on-line reference that said the first of the three numerals represents the model year, so the 3 corresponds with 1953. But can't find any info about original colour (color ) of 41.

Appreciate any help.

I doubt you'll find anything relating to specifically CDN production of any year unless you can find some Dupont chip sheets used in Canada, probably not different .... and I seriously doubt the first digit indicates a year in either country, take a look here, the 7xx series of codes started in 56 and went into the 60's ... if your tag is stamped "41" it's likely the lunch whistle blew just then, there's a 411 [red] and 417 [blue] listed for 53

I have a 1954 Canadian Chevrolet Truck Data Book but, unlike the USA TDB, it does not have paint codes (it just has the color codes). Most of the Canadian colour-names do not match the USA colors.

In USA, the 1954 paint color options were almost the same as the 1953 color options. As Bill pointed out, the Dupont codes are shown in the USA TDB.

The 1954 Canadian Paint Code 4-41 (1954-41) might well be the same as your 1953 code 341 (3-41, 1953-41)? That would be Coppertone? 1954 and 1953 USA trucks did have the Coppertone color (by the same name).

Do you want the USA 1953/1954 PPG and Dupont codes for that color?

I'm just closing a deal on a resto-mod '53 3100 and took note of the paint code. Truck is black now but since it needs new paint I wanted to consider the original colour.

Can't say that I'm a fan of the coppertone, though. Think I'll keep her in black.

But as Tim confirms above, the first numeral is, indeed, the last numeral of the date. Paint codes for 53 all started with a 3 and for 54 with a 4.

Who knows why they weren't standardized with the US colours?!!!

I got the build info from GM Canada on my truck a few years ago and included was the paint and trim codes. My truck is a '53 1/2T which of course is a model 1314. There were 2,424 units built for 1953 model year and the paint code is 338-Sahara Beige (Dulux paint code is DU-143). Trim code is 394 - Brown Leatherette, hope this helps.

This seems to make sense....the resto pak information for my 52 called my original paint #237 - Airway blue which looks very close to the US Windsor blue brought up in another thread. I've never seen a Canadian chip/code sheet and I went with a modern base/clear Chevy blue from the 2002 model year.

I have a Canadian 52 model 1314 with paint code 240, would you guys know what colour is that? I’m just starting a Resto and considering original colour.

I was just reading the original post and the code 240 may be 2 for 1952 and 40 for the code .there is a paint list for 1954 on here somewhere and 40 is Omaha orange .Is there any orange under or on your truck to verify?

As indicated by reading the posts above yours, it appears that the first digit of the paint color code is the last digit of the year. So according to the information that Tim posted here and substituting a 2 for the first digit, it looks like your truck was Omaha Orange (a cool color by the way - that's what my truck was).
You should be able to find evidence of the original color in a number of spots on the cab. Where the bed covers the rear of the cab is rarely covered in a repaint so should be the original color. Also, if you remove the rear view mirror bracket from the cowl, the original color should be under the rubber gasket.
