Powerblock TV where showing a $10 special for this project on facebook so I picked it up so I could use it as reference on the body parts and possible other tips on what they did. I am 100% happy with it however I found somethings odd after I started to watch it.

They claimed this is a 1949 that someone did some modifications to the doors which is why it has vent windows as they didn't come till 1951. I know there are a lot of people who do this so I was OK with this. What really got me thinking they didn't know they were talking about is when I saw the truck had tublar shocks. These for what I could tell from watching the video was factory. Now maybe I am incorrect in thinking but I though that chevy didn't start putting tublar shocks in till 1950.

If you go to the video and you look at around 1:06 you will see the tublar shocks I am referring to: http://www.powerblocktv.com/episodes/TK2009-15/classix-part-2 . So I just want to know if anybody has a feeling that this was a true 1951 truck or did anyone else pick up on this as they watched the episodes? Again I'm going to a restomod so I am not dinging them on this build by any means I am just making sure the historical facts are correct in the event I am ever asked about it.

I spotted it right away on the first episode they showed, before they even tore into it.

Yes. There's a few other things that give it away, like the lack of a cowl vent on the drivers side ('51 was the first year for that).

I knew one of the cowl vents was remember but couldn't remember which one and wasn't 100% sure what year it happened. I did think about that after I turned it off last night but didn't go back to look at it. Thanks for confirming my thoughts and letting me know the year that happened.
