I see most trucks have been re-painted with high or medium gloss finishes. Has anyone done a paint finish in a matte or less reflective finish? I think I found the original blue color for my truck and intend to have it re-painted, but wonder if a matte finish would have been more applicable for a 1954 truck.

Appreciate any insights or opinions.

Bob

paints are gloss, semi-gloss and flat - although nowadays a "flattening agent" can be added [and usually is, to the dash top], the original exterior paint was gloss

aggie jon,

gloss for truck exterior paint
semi-gloss for truck interior paint

Bob,

1954 truck exterior finishes were gloss and interior finishes were semi-gloss.

The two 1954 Chevrolet truck exterior blue colors were Mariner Blue and Transport Blue (there was also a Green-Blue called Ocean Green).

Assuming you mean the truck in the showroom, gloss.
