I just was thinking. First start with a 6 to 12 volt transformer. classic industries transformerThen an amplifier. Small AmpThen a set of speakers. Classic Parts Speaker You would just connect to the amp with a male to male ear phone wire. I appreciate your input. Lost

I am not sure that you would have control of volume and tone characteristics for each channel separately. | | | | Joined: Dec 2012 Posts: 19 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Dec 2012 Posts: 19 | I did a little research on line level signal.
I think you are saying that I can't use the volume control on my I-pod or Kindle to control the volume. That a this amp is designed to take a signal which isn't adjusted and the volume control would be between the amp and speakers instead.
What kind of amp should I look for?
I don't need to make my widows vibrate or the car next to me either. It is just fun to cruise the country roads with a little Nate King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Beach Boys in the back ground.
Thanks

The ad makes some mention of a volume control associated with the amp but there is no reason why you couldn't use the one in your I-pod. If it were me, I would want control of the tone and the split of left and right channels. Can you do that with your I-pod? I don't own one. | | | | Joined: Dec 2012 Posts: 19 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Dec 2012 Posts: 19 | The earphone jack is split for ground,, right and left.
My kids like to play with the controls of the stereo in my modern truck (left right, fade balance, bass, treble, and more). I just like it regular sounding.
Thanks for your input.

It might work at low volume but will start to starve for DC voltage as you crank it up. Call these guys talk to tech department http://www.casmfg.com/Accessories.htm They sell the transformer/Voltage Booster/Power Inverters.(check link) The audio input would work from the I-tunes, the problem is not enough DC juice to drive amp. Check this post for diagrams and links. https://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=853440#Post853440 If you need more info let me know.

Here is a link to one of the converters reviewed. http://www.6to12volt.com/The above converters can handle more amperage. But cost more. The converter that you mentioned is really designed to just power radio/CD head units. Looks like Sony makes an amp that runs on 6 volts link http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=796241After weighting the pros and cons your probably better off buying a 12 volt battery put behind the seat and trickle charge it once in a while. Its cheaper. | | | | Joined: Dec 2012 Posts: 19 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Dec 2012 Posts: 19 | Thanks all for the good info.
I think you are right about the 12volt battery Jorb
