The engine is a 228 cid and the P/N on the cam is gmc # 2191529. The engine ran fine after rebuilding it, but I could never time it to 5 BTDC. However, it would run if I advanced the timing. This is the first time it ran since I bought it. Also the vacuum was seady but low, about 12 inches, some of that may be the carb adjustment.
If anyone has any suggestions or part numbers it would be appreciated. Thanks

I have a GMC 39-41 parts book covering models 100-460. The part # for the camshaft for the years and models listed above is 2136000.
The numerical list of part #'s for 39-41 does not list your cams part #.

I have a Motor's Truck Repair Manual, Second Edition, and it states # 1 at TDC and 90 degrees from the cam key way should be 13 teeth to the crankshaft gear mark, which it is. So according to the book its in time. Could flywheels be different from chevy's to gmc's and still fit? Thanks, jap
