(54 235) took it off and measured how far forward it needed to be placed to line up with crank shaft pulley. redrilled holes in the bracket to match the old ones in the block. i then used an "all thread" bolt to mount the alternator to the new backet. the all thread gives you another way of adjustment to line up your belt. i also took the old generator bracket (adjustment bracket) - hammered it flat - turned it upside down and used it again for the top bracket. poor boy solution but works fine and doesn't look bad either.

I took a lower alternator bracket from a '67 6 cylinder chevy truck since the delco was OEM on that vehicle (the 8 cylinder won't work-totally different setup). I had to egg out one of the holes slightly (I think it was the front hole) and the alternator fit right in. For the top bracket I used my old generator bracket- which may not have been original, and had to bend it a bit. The top ones are easier since there are so many different configurations out there. | | |
