Folks,
I have scraping / gear teeth knocking when trying to get my 1949 4400 into gear. Ran great last year when I had her out with only a slight clicking while syncing up the gears, usually in first. Right now the truck's in the back of the shed facing the shed wall, so I'm trying reverse and I can't seem to get it to go into gear with the engine running, no matter how gentle I am with it. I did try all gears but cannot engage.
It will go into gear with the engine off, of course, but I really don't need the clutch for that. When the engine is at idle its like the clutch pressure plate won't stop the flywheel from spinning. Two questions: 1)How / where do i adjust the clutch and 2) if I'm low on fluid - how do I check for that and what do you recommend for transmission fluid in the AD?
Thanks for your help,

Probably just the clutch is stuck from sitting, rusted to the flywheel.

Pull it out of the shed and try starting it in gear with the clutch depressed and the brake on, it might break free and if so that was simple/quick. If not put it in high gear (not running) and rock the truck forward and back with the clutch depressed.

Thanks, Grigg, I'll try that.

By the way, I know I'm a novice, but what fluid is needed for this original tansmission? I have a small leak, and I think its tranny fluid that is leaking. Should I remove old and re-fill with new?
Thanks
