Have any of you guys had varying experiences with either fiber or copper faced head gaskets? My truck is out in the garage in ICU. I called advanced auto, they can order either for about 20 bucks. I'm looking for some reccomendations.

The copper gasket is the very old original style. Like a lot of things there are reasons they changed to the newer design. Personally I would never use one of the old copper style gaskets.

Use the newer style gasket instead of the copper.

If it was mine I would use a Best Gasket or a Fel Pro.

Thanks guys, that's basically the same advice I got from baldeagle (Paul). Don, I ended up ordering Fel Pro. I would have assumed the copper gasket was the newer design. I'm just learning as I go. I've been holding the light for others for 20 years. I'm a good light man.

Holding the light is much easier on the knuckles!

What do you guys use for thread lube on the head bolts? Below is a video that makes me think this is an important step in getting a evenly and adequately torqued cylinder head.
