Working on my 53. Putting mono leaf springs on and lowered shocks. The front worked out fine but when I put the back togethere the shocks are too short. By about 5 inches! I have the weight off the suspension. I contacted CPP where I bought the shocks. They said to drop the truck down on the wheels. Which I did and they are still 4 inches away. Now I know I don't have all the weight of the truck on yet but I don't think I'm going to get that much distance. You should have to compress shock some to get it to install. With no weight on the front i had to compress the shock to install. Do I have to weight untill I have all the weight on the truck? That makes no sence. If I turn the shock mount upside down it will reach but that doesnt look right and the bracket is only 5/8 of an inch away from the tire. I have another shock mount bracket from a universal kit that I can mount lower on the frame and have to compress the shock about an inch and that's with the suspension hanging. What do you guys think?
