I am on the home stretch of a top end re-build on my '55 235 and I have hit a snag. When I took apart the rocker arm assemblies to clean and inspect, I found alot of wear on the rocker arm shafts. I presume that this is because the inner cores of the rocker arms are worn and grooved. So I started thinking about replacing the rocker arms to keep them from tearing up the new shafts. However, I cant find them anywhere...checked NAPA, Carters, Classic Parts, and even made a call to Egge's and the tech there said that they aren't made anymore. So my questions are...what do you do when rebuilding a rocker arm assembly...can the old rocker arms be resurfaced where they ride on the shaft...and has anyone recently found new ones?

There are places like rockerarms.com that bore them out and bush them.

I had "rockerarms.com do mine and also make me up a new set of high lift (1.61" Intake) for a set of old 216's I have. I'm happy with everything they have done for me. I traded with them in Torrance, CA and now they are in Anderson, CA. Same good work too.

Thanks for the replies! I am now well on my way to a solution...what a great forum! I haven't yet decided which way to go...also found that Chev's of the 40's carries rebuilt sets in stock. I'll update with my decision and the outcome!
