I am in the process of installing lever action shocks on the front end of a 1949 truck. I have the shocks mounted to the frame and am looking for some information on how to mount the arm to the axle. Is there a bracked that is attached with the U bolts? I have the brackets that are used to attach the tubular shocks from a 1951. Are the lever action shocks attached with the exact same bracket? A different bracket?

Thanks for any advice.

I'm going to have to agree that I bet it's a different bracket. I don't know for 100% sure but I will take a picture of it after I get off work as mine is still installed on my frame.

Here are two photos i took this morning to show how it is on mine. It is bolted up to the U bolt that is holding the leaf springs on. DO you have the flat part on the end of your lever action shock?

Here is an example of what is available from vendors, some pieces are not reproduced for these applications. Cut and paste the long link it will save several levels of searching.

Thanks to everyone for the responses. I appreciate the help. After looking at Carson's pictures it looks like they are a different bracket. The ones that I have which I believe are for tube shocks have an angle on them whereas the ones for the lever action shocks look like they are flat.

I was asking because when I removed the lever action shocks the bottom bolt was just welded to the axle and there was no bracket. I will look into getting or making a set.
