I'm pulling my steering column from my '59 chevy for a rebuild and can't figure out how to remove the signal harness that plugs into the main wiring harness and then runs inside the steering column and is then connected to the signal switch. The plug on the harness side won't thread through and the signal switch on the other end won't fit through the column either. What's worked for you guys?

You have to remove the wires from the connector. Then hook a piece of bailing wire to them & wrap it with masking tape. pull the wires out & the bailing wire will remain in to pull them back in . Write down the order if the colors don,t correspond with the harness. smile

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

4d9r,
As what I've been doing with my daughter's mustang electrical, ret said it perfectly. You need to carefully remove the wires from the connector. If you need help, I'll be happy to do it for you. You know how to reach me.

Replacing the entire wire harnesses has caused me to re-use some of the stock connectors, so learning how to remove the wires has been a necessity.
