[size:14pt][/size][font:Comic Sans MS][/font]I'll try to make this a Short Story. My friend Shorty saw a 1942 1 1/2 ton Panel Delivery in Maine this summer while on vacation. Once he got home, he decided he would like to maybe buy it. I tracked it down to Gilead, Maine and found the name of the owner of an Antique Shop. Shorty is now a Proud Owner. Next problem, how to get it from Maine to Battle Creek, Michigan. I have the full dimensions from http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/chevyresto/4231.htm but don't know the weight. Can you help with how much it weighs? Also, your opinion would be greatly appreciated on the type of trailer that would be Best to use to bring this back 900 miles. Shorty's thinking about renting a 2 axle U-Haul.
Any horror stories from your past ?
My other thought is getting a quote from Auto Transport companies, like uship.com for instance.
Any recommendations there ?
No hurry, probably be March or April, gotta let the snow melt.

Looks like 4185 lb for a 1 ton panel. No mentiion of a 1 1/2 ton. GM Heritage

4275 lbs for the 1.5 ton panel. Same wheel-base/body as 1-ton, just heavier springs, I think?

Go online and fill in the info. I just put the year and model of the vehicle and they sent me a quote. I paid a $150 deposit up front and then the balance in cash to the truck driver upon delivery. The charge was exactly the same as the quote. No questions/no discussion. I had it shipped from Palm Springs, CA to Kansas City, MO. I believe it was right around $850 for an open truck move. The pickup and delivery were right on time and to standard. It took about 3 days to make the trip.

I did a lot of research on line before I picked Montway since I was still living in Germany at the time so I had to do it all long distance. I've seen that there are some pretty shady auto movers out there. Montway had nothing but rave reviews from what I could find.

Bottom line: I was very satisfied with their service and strongly recommend them.

I pulled my 1941 1ton PU from 10,000 lakes MN to Ft. Lauderdale,FL 6 years ago using a tow dolly.

I had to buy new tires and check it out mechanically before the trip. It was a great but not speedy trip and I saved more than enough to pay for the tow dolly.

I had my 1 ton trailered up from Bakersfield, CA. I went trough uship.com. It is about a 600 mile trip and cost me $400 in 2007.
I was able to get a good price because I worked with hauler who lives near Sacremento, CA and has a son who lives in my area. It delayed the delivery for about two weeks but it was worth the wait, I was very happy with service. He lives near I5 highway and people would stop to ask if it was for sale.

I shipped my 48 suburban from California to Virginia using the online link to Uship very nice process, Easy to use lots of communication great price excellent experience.
