Does anyone have the width of the bed wood for a 1946 1/2 ton?
Mar-K was helpful with telling me there are 7 Boards in the 46 and how long they are but would not disclose the width.
I see from photo's that the center board is wider than the others.
I hope you can help me with this question.

How wide is the center board (4) and the boards on each side of center (3 & 5) ?
Then boards 1, 2, 6, 7 ?

Harold.....I think your '46 is same width inside box as my '40 ?
I will measure mine later today and post. In the interim, if you have original cross-sills, you could measure bolt spacing ?

It is not the bed width I need, it is the individual board width.
My understanding is the 1940 - 45 had 6 boards and the 1946 had 7 boards.

Harold...didn't realize there are ( 7 ) planks on the '46
For what its' worth on my '40, inside overall width of the bed is 48 5/8". ( 6 ) planks - 8 3/4, 7, 7, 7, 7, 8 3/4

Harold, did you by chance find out the board width on a 1946 bed. I am redoing one myself and I am scratching my head. thanks. Tim

There was a website posted on here a long time ago showing the width of the boards for different years of Chevy trucks. I'll try and dig it up if I get a chance.

If you guys have the original bed cross sills, the hole centers would give you an idea of the board widths and positioning ?
Otherwise, I think Mar-K's website has board dimensions and details.

OK Fellows, here's what I did on my 46. These widths fit the original cross sill holes. 7 1/8" 5 1/2" 5 1/2" 9 1/8" 5 1/2" 5 1/2" 7 1/8"

I'm trying to refurbish the bed boards on my '46 1/2 ton. Someone here already pointed out that my back fenders aren't true to a' 46...and then I come here to get the dimensions and realize that the exact dimensions posted for a 46 = 7 boards. Mine clearly has six.

1) What year range would that make my bed?

2) Does anyone have the dimensions for the six boards?

I might be confusing your truck with another similar post from several months back. If it's the same post, I thought it was determined that the entire bed and fenders were from another truck - probably not a Chevy.

I'm not real familiar with the 46 beds, but I see on your pic, that your bed has tab sticking out each side for the tailgate chain hooks. I know on AD (47-55) trucks, the holes for the hooks are forward of the rear edge of the bedside.
What are the overall inside dimensions on your bed? A 46 Chevy bed would be 48.5" inside width and 78" inside length (front panel to tailgate.)

The bed on my ‘37 Chevy 1/2 ton was replaced by a previous owner. It has six boards each 3/4” thick and 76 inches long. Four boards in the midle measure 7 7/16” wide. Each board on the outsides measure 7 3/4” wide. A photo is attached.

41-45 have 6 bed boards

I used these measurements for my '46, but ended up changing the outside boards to 7 1/2".
