The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area The Electrical Bay Headlamp & taillamp wiring tips?

My '50 3100 has headlights, and a single dim 6V taillight. I would like to add a pair of taillight / running lights at the rear.

Should I just get a set of trailer lights from the auto parts store and put 6v bulbs in them?

Can I wire them to come on when I pull the headlights switch?

How complicated is it to wire in turn signal indicators, and should I do this at the same time?

I think the easiest way to add turn signals would be to purchase one of the kits that attach to the steering column. Would be period correct, comes in 6v, and includes wire, flasher unit, etc. First thing to check with " dim " lights is your grounds.
Make sure you have really good contact

Dickson, I went to the auto parts store and used a trailer light harness so that i can use my tail/running lights as blinkers also instead of needing to run extra bulbs. I am using a 3 wat switch for my blinkers. I found a set of headlamps that have LED blinkers hidden in them. I thought that they were kind of cool. I am prepping to convert mine to 12V in the near future.
