Folks I got my '63 C10 last year. It's a nice driver. Was restored 15 years ago and could use some body work next winter. It has a newer 350 and 700R4. When I tackle the body job I would like to also rewire. Those 50 year old wires and connections are causing me grief! I don't plan to add any power options. What is the best wiring kit for me? -OldsCool

"Best" has to be defined. The best quality, diagrams, instructions, most extras, complete kit is American Autowire. Around $465. The best price is not American Autowire. EZ, painless and others are quite a bit "bester". I have used AAW and I have done my own from scratch. You can buy wire, connectors and contacts that are just like the kits. BUT you have to have a good schematic and a good understanding of wiring. The 63 will be a bit more complicated than the 55-59's I do.

i like the ezwire it has good instructions have used them in 5 trucks with no problems

Antique Chev Parts (my closest dealer) carries the American Auto wire but its on the pricey side at $770. I think I could order the EZ quite a bit less. Not sure I need all that the AW will include since I am not adding electrical load.
Leonard, did the EZ include new bulb sockets, dimmer switch,...what components do you think I would need to add to the EZ for a basic rewire? Thanks, OldsCool

Keep an eye on E Bay for a bit. I bought a Painless Universal Truck kit for $ 150. Good quality / well marked / good tech support if you get stuck.

the ez wire comes with the headlight plugs. and all the plugs to plug into a later model gm keyed column it has directions to wire it for a dash key. i buy the gm wire ends that lock in the plugs and reuse the stock plugs. i also buy the 21 circut and what wires i do not use i roll up next to the fuse pannel in case i want to add on power instructions are good and the wires are marked every 6"

I bought a kit from Speedway when I did my 49. It was the 18? circuit so I had plenty of room to add power door locks and stereo, etc. It was well marked and included everything I needed. I had never wired anything from scratch and rolling out all those coils of wire was a bit daunting but the instructions were very good and it wasn't all that hard if you follow instructions and just take it a step at a time.
