I did a search but could not find any info. I have owned mine for many years and was wondering how many were made? It's a long wheel base 1 ton, 17 inch rims and i think it came from a California school district originally.
Thanks

Many of us with 1 ton panels have asked that same question. Some time back one of the bolters said he was told (by some ins company I think) that there were less than 100 known to still exist. I have no idea if this is accurate or not, but I can tell you I have only seen one other, knee deep in mud, in the years I've been looking. I've been to a number of shows and cruis in's where many, many people have commented. A couple have talked about seeing them in yesteryear, but most say they have never seen one. Some have even asked if it has been stretched.

So if you find a anyone who knows the real scoop, we will all be listening.

7,701 1-ton panels (3805) were produced in 1950 (calendar year).

1950 was the highest overall Chevrolet Advance-Design truck production year.

The number that I often seen/hear quoted is 300, but I do not know if that WAG is for 1950, for all A-D years, for NY, or for chuckles in guessing how many still exist.

There are two out here that I know of personally. 1950 & 1953. Neither is on the road currently, and one of them (1950) looks like it was parked on a tidal flat for 20 years. Every single panel is rusted so badly that there's no place to stop the patch panel!

I really like the One Toners, the inside of those are HUGE! Sometimes I wish mine was a 1-Ton, not for the weight capacity, but just for the huge inside.

There is 3805 panel on the side of the road about 1/4 mile from me. It is under a tarp and most likely rusting away.

I have a pretty nice '50 1-ton panel here in California. I changed the rear axle to a 3/4 ton for better mileage and speed.

The one tons were work horses for the most part and were pretty much worked to death. With the 5.14 rear end ratios they weren't popular because of the speed limitations, not to mention the heavier weight of the 3805's. In addition without sway bars and rear shocks they aren't the best handling rides in stock condition.

I have asked this same question about my '54 1 ton, they seem to be rare indeed. Mine came from Oildale, CA, just north of Bakersfield. I understand it was parked in front of "The Beef & Beanery" resturant and catering service in Oildale when they owned it. The logo is readable. I was told a man by the name of "Skip" owned the resturant at that time. Vincent was stamped into the key. Therefore, I call him, "Vincent Big Fellow". Other than that I have no history except the man I bought it from in '07. I think it was stored in Bakersfield for about 11 years. If I knew how to do e-photos I would put Vincent in the Gallery. I love my "Big Fella"

I just bought a 1950 1 ton Panel Truck in North Dakota last weekend. It has rusted through on the bottom of the rear panel but that is the only non surface rust on the truck. The interior still has all the windows and there is not rust on the inside that I could see. Guy I bought it from says he put fuel in the carb last year and it started right up. I did not think it was a bad deal for $600. The interesting thing about this one is that it has aluminum framed bomber seats in it. Will post pictures when I pick it up in the spring.

Too many projects not enough time.

According to John Gunnell's book: American Light Duty Trucks, 2nd Edition, Standard Catalog, pg. 44.
Calendar year registrations [All Comercials] 414,496. Calendar year production: 494,573. [All Comercials 5,000 lbs or less GVW] 265,515. [All Comercials 5,001 lbs. to 10,000 lbs.GVW] 102,669.
He doesn't give production total by model number, apparently it's not available.
The M/N is 3805, base price was $1,659.00 and it weighed 4,190 lbs.

Got my eyes on a 55.1 one ton panel. Another bolter let me in on the secret and is trying to befriend folks and see if it is for sale. Hmm, maybe a one ton in my future??
