Hello all! So I'm trying to figure out a way to cover up the gap between my seat and rear of the cab so you don't see the gas tank. I'm putting sound deadening tape on the back of the cab to quite the ride a little and really don't want everyone to see it. I thought I seen where someone either bought or made some cardboard panels but can't remember where I seen it. So if anyone has any Ideas or tricks up there sleeve, it would be appreciated. Thanks

Just saw a bit on one of the car shows about making a bumper using a frame work and fleece which was stretched and fiberglass resined. Finished with some filler and painted. It looked like a easy way to make something like your talking about and not have it look like a square box in your curved cab...

I have a '59 and did a couple of things that may help you.
I made a shelf by making a paper pattern in the shape of the cab just above the gas tank. Once the pattern is done I used cabinet grade particle board for the shelf and attached rubber tool box liner to the edge for cushioning, then the shelf needs something to rest on. So I fabricated speaker boxes for each side and screwed the shelf to them. This shelf now holds; a jack, CD player, a spray bottle for window washer fluid, and a towel.

Then I made steel blocks to go under the seat mounts which raised the seat (more leg room too) and allowed it to go back just a bit further and I could adjust the recline closer to the window (or cab shell).
Now I can't really see the shelf or tank at all.

I'll post some pictures soon, don't have any now.
