Standard Gear or Superior Gear? The U.S.A is about 1/2 the price of the OEM or Yukon counterpart and the Superior is about 2/3's the price. I've heard the cheaper gearsets can be noisey, but some say it's all in how you set them up.
Any ideas?

or the ring gear has 14 bolts, or the carrier is held in by 14 bolts???
Since I'm not into hot rodding those half stated terms always
cornfuse me. Seems like everyone has their own opinion on what
they are discribing. You know, 14 bolt, 9 bolt, 12 bolt, but what bolts??????

I know why neither of us knows what a 14 bolt is. And the later-post explanation is almost incomprehensible (complete sentences are lacking).
10.5” Corporate 14 Bolt Differential is a heavy duty differential that is used by Chevrolet and GMC trucks and vans since 1973. Of course it might have been a 14-bolt from 64 and later.
A good question from us would have been: "are you referring to a 9.5" or one of the 10.5" GM 14 bolt rear ends?"

Been looking around and Richmond, Yukon, and OEM seem to be at the top of the price range. Superior, Motive, and Nitro are middle of the road. U.S.A Standard is by far the least expensive.
Anyhow, I'm NOT looking for the cheapest, just the best value for the money. I'm only going to do it once.

The only down side I saw was some runout on the pinion face. I used a pinion depth gauge and got .005 difference in measurement if I turned the pinion.
If you were not using a depth gauge you'd never know. | | |
