I did a search and no results. They are pretty cheap but I never heard of them before. Any experience with them ? Just curious but think I'll go with Coopers.

!. Are they made in China? If so, AVOID!!! There have been many problems due to inadequate quality controls and you ( or your survivors) cannot successfully sue the manufacturer for any meaningful amount.Importers are the ones that can be held responsible but they frequently file bankruptcy when faced with large liability claims. I don't know anything about this company and am not suggesting that they are not reliable- but the situation above has happened with some other importers. Why take a chance with such an important part?

GrandpaGlenn0,

"There have been many problems due to inadequate quality controls and you ( or your survivors) cannot successfully sue the manufacturer for any meaningful amount."

What examples can you fill us in on? What brands of tires do you recommend?

There is not much information regarding Saffiro Tire? This is a little odd?

Of course I was suspicious but just wanted to know. I would NEVER go with an off brand unless it had lots of good reviews. I'll pass on these for sure. Actually I wouldn't buy a Chinese made anything if I had a choice.

Dogface, you mention you might go with Cooper. They are manufactured in China. Read the history of Cooper.

http://coopertire.com/About-Us/History.aspx

However, the big difference is as Grandpa mentioned, Cooper is a global operation and does carry product liability insurance. Private label importers quite often do not carry adequate product liability insurance. I currently have about 100 Cooper 295/75R22.5 tires on the ground and I am well pleased with them. There mileage seems to be comparable to Michelin which is almost twice the price. I will probably have another 100 Coopers on the ground within 6 months. I hate to buy stuff that is made in China, but the Coopers just make better sense with my bottom line. As far that goes, Goodyear makes a very popular tire for RV trailer, the Goodyear Marathon, which is made in China.

I have been plaintiff in at least a dozen product liability suits in the past 25 years. I hope it doesn't come to that with Cooper. But I wouldn't buy them if I had any fears that they were not financially responsible.

Thanks for that link Ken, I've been running Cooper radial's on
my '50 for seven years now and have no complaints about them.

I did spend an hour reading thru the company web site, a very
well produced site I might add. It's very informative and very
user frendly.

I have read about illegal tires coming from China that didn't have the correct ID markings on the sidewalls. Now I would have thought that those markings would be faked pretty professionally. Has anyone seen examples of this sort of thing?

I don't recall the exact brand, (yokahama?) very popular japanese tire at any rate, is now made in china. The tires I got from les schwab for my truck, I just checked are made in thailand, I have a set of premium michelin for my other car they are made in mexico. What does it say on the side of your coopers Denny? Although I would like financial responsibility, I would rather have quality that wouldn't require testing their financial responsibility policy/ethics. But I don't know for sure how to just look at a tire and tell if it is any good. Is there any tire made in the US?

Well, so much for these and Coopers too if they're made in China. Even if Coopers are safe and wear well I just don't like buying Chinese. That said, it's pretty hard to buy much that's not made there these days. If I have to pay twenty or thirty bucks more per tire, then so be it...

go to tire rack .com they have a link to tires and lots of good information. You may have trouble finding US made tires, although there is a few plants.

Cooper manufactures tires in the states also. They have plants in Findlay, Ohio, Tupelo, Miss., and Texarkana, Ark. If you look into companies like Goodyear, Michelin, and Bridgestone, you'll find the same trend. They ALL produce tires in the States AND worldwide.

My father is a Cooper dealer at his shop. He sells the Cooper and Mastercraft brands. 95% of the tires he puts on are still made right here in the states.
