They plate it with copper to fill the pits when buff it down. The deeper the pits the more times through the process it takes to fill them.

Every time it is plated it looses a little detail.
These old bolts are in my blood. Hard thing is focusing on just one.

Will vary every place you take it. A for instance is the front bumper on my '50, they wanted $250 to chrome it. If it's rusted there will be a lot of filling and buffing which is gonna drive the price way up there. DG
