(I asked this on the end of the "How hot? Radio" thread so some may have missed it) Has anyone had experience with a 12/6 battery? (12 volt for running the vehicle and 6 volt hook up on it for the 6 volt accessories) Antique Auto Battery (www.Antiqueautobattery.com) quoted me $130.00 plus $20.00 shipping. Just wondered if this might be the easy way, albeit a little expensive, around the 12 volt truck, 6 volt heater & radio problem without having the ceramic voltage reducer melt a hole in the dash.

The 6/12 batteries do work but it really does not solve your problem...you are just treating a symptom. Think if it as going to the dentist with a toothache and a cavity and having the dentist give you an asprin for the toothache and sending you on your way. Your toothache is gone but the cavity is still there. You need to either stay 6-volt or switch to 12 volt. I build 6 volt alternators if you want to stay original but still have the bright lights and good starting. I wiill also help you make the conversion to 12 volts if that is what you want to do.
