I have a 1966 Fleetside longbed that I purchased as a basket case. I am putting the brakes together on the rear axle and I see no bracket on the frame for the flexline to hook into the hardline that goes to the front. The bracket on the rear axle is on the top of the passenger side axle tube with the tee input(flexhose connection)facing the front of the vehicle. Does anyone have a picture of where the bracket goes and what it looks like? I think I may need to make the bracket myself. Thanks!!

On my '65 the hose attaches to the gusset that goes from the passenger side frame rail to the shock absorber crossmember. There is no dedicated bracket for the brake hose, just a hole in the gusset. You can see it here. The photo is of the upper passenger side shock mount. Not the best photo, but the only one in my archive.

Thanks for pictures guys! No wonder I can't find the bracket. I'm on my way down to see if I have the hole as shown in your pictures. Keep your fingers crossed!

Hey, hey, hey! I do have the hole in the coil spring perch as shown in your pictures. Never thought that was the "bracket". The assembly manual shows a bracket but then I can't trust that they are showing me a 1966 since the book covers 1960 thru 1966. Must be a PITA to hook the hard line to unless you pull the hard line thru the hole first, make the connection and then push the hose back thru and clip it.
One other quick question. I bought a "correct" tee for the rear axle lines and noticed that the brake tee connection is an inverted flare and while the hose does have a flare connection, it does not thread into the fitting far enough for the flexline shoulder to seat against the tee with a copper washer. I suspect that as long as I tighten the connection enough, the flares should seat and not leak. Is this sound like the correct connection for the hose to tee?

I just redid my brake lines about 3 weeks ago. The flex line should seat into the tee for a few threads but mine did not go all the way to the connector shoulder. Just ran out and looked and have about 2-3 threads still showing between connector and shoulder.
You are on the right track for connecting through the frame. I screwed around for 15 minutes trying to connect on the inside of the bracket and then pushed the line out through the hole and was done in 2 minutes. The retaining clip did take some persuasion to go onto the connector.

Thank you for looking. I now feel better that the line should not leak. It will be a week or more before I put fluid into the system and try to bleed the brakes. I still have a power brake booster and master cylinder to mount on a vehicle that did not have power brakes to start with.

My 65 brakes have been redone. Hope these pics help.
