For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 1 Moderated | | Moderated Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 1 | I recently bought this truck and it is in very exceptional shape. Its is all original and runs and drives great. The motor has been upgraded to a rebuilt 235 and the previous owner put a junk yard rear end out of a 03 Blazer with a 3.73 gearing. My problem is i now have 8 lug hubs up front and a 5 lug out back. So my question is since i will prob not be able to find a 3100 suspension close to me for cheap (Dayton, OH) to convert the front to 5 lug, do they make adapters to go from 8-5 lug or what are my options here. I really do not want to change rear ends to and older 3/4 axle but it looks like i may have to do so... Any thoughts or helpful advice would be appreciated. | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 | Welcome to Stovebolt.
Contrary to popular belief, 'all original' means just as it left the factory. Even replacing tires makes it not 'all original'. A truck with a changed engine and rear end is certainly not 'all original'.
I'm moving your post to Driveline. You'll get lots of opinions there. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 245 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 245 | I'm sure someone could make custom wheel adapters. The 3100 front axle will bolt in, and shouldn't be that hard to find, but it's 6 lug not 5, to which you could adapt passenger car 5 lug hubs and drums or better yet, fit one of the 5 lug disc brake kits to the 3100 axle. You load carrying capacity has already been compromised by the rear axle switch. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 20 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 20 | I have a 51 chevy 1/2 ton front axle and it is has 5 lug hubs already on it.
