Thanks to all for the comments and updates. Special thanks to "big_dan_1950" for additional documentation found at Jim Carters Website. To date only two trucks with running board "option #389" have been confirmed to exist by Stovebolters. It is obviously a pretty rare combination.

What I notice is that the other running boards don't have the "humps" for the leaf springs or do I need to get new glasses?

No, your glasses are OK.

Just to clarify, the running boards are a matched set. Both sides have the hump in the corner where the boards attach to the rear fenders. If you mean other trucks without the "wide running board option", you are correct they do not have the humps. This image is of the other side of the '47 truck before green paint. It's a poor scan, but you can see the hump on this side as well.

The boards on my truck do also have the (hump). Its hard to see in the picture due to the many layers of paint and the rust. I'll try to clean them up for a better picture.

They are getting less rare every day.
I saw This truck today at the Tri-State Swap Meet in Denver. They were less pronounced because they lengthened the cab 4-6 inches and shortened the bed the same amount so the curve that was supposed to be under the cab corner was actually up under the truck. Drivers side, Passenger side, and a shot from the bleachers.

Now that is an UNUSUAL truck, and a sharp eye FriedGreenTmater! That is definitely truck number three spotted thus far with option #389 (plus some serious fabrication). Looks like the shortened bed and extended cab required the fuel filler tube to emerge between the cab and bed rather than bedside, creating a wider than normal gap betwen the two?

Wish I had seen this earlier. My brother had a '48 model with ths "rare" accessory back in the late '80's. Sold it to a guy in Roanoke, Va. There also was a guy at the Charlotte Auto Fair with a set about 10 yrs. ago asking $1000, for the set. I wanted them , but not at that price.

From Tim's earlier post it looks like they were only offered on 1/2 tons

no its not my truck . its a truck i found online for sale .

If the information above is accurate the option ended in 1950,
That truck looks to be later (I like the look of that truck, mirrors, rear bumper, guard)

The factory option was listed through 1949.

It might have available as a special order or as a dealer/owner installed part after that date.

big_dan_1950: Your images are too small to make a definite identification, but they do appear to be the wide running board option (with holes drilled for step plates?). The "hump" for the rear spring mount is not visible or appears to be missing altogether. Two possibilities I can think of; the running boards have been cut short where they attach to the rear fender, or maybe something changed with the introduction of tubular shocks in 1950?

big_dan_1950: This sure looks like another set of the elusive 1947-1949 wide running boards (option #389) minus the raised "hump" for the leaf spring hanger. Interesting how your inside tread ridge ends a few inches short, exactly at the spot the "hump" exists on the other examples we have seen.

there is a small raised spot , it doesnt look like the bump on your running boards
