Was wondering does somebody sell a 12 volt generator or will I need to convert mine???? And will the 6 volt starter still work on a 12 volt system???

if you have an auto electric shop in reach they could get the generator [and regulator, different than the 6V one], or many of the vintage parts suppliers found in the links section here will have them .... and yes, the 6V starter will work fine, as long as you don't grind it for extended periods, like moving the truck around

I bought a 12 volt generator from I think a 55 Chev sedan and it has the same dimensions as the 6 volt. I also have a later 12 volt which is much longer. My point is there is a 12 volt which will fit.

They come in two versions long and short styles. The front bracket will interchange but you may need the correct bottom bracket to make it work. As I remember there is about a 2" difference in their length. I believe Chevs of the 40's carries the correct brackets. They bolt to the block the same.
