There were no clamps. There are bolt holes in the seat frame. What year truck are you referring to? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | "Re: 47-53 Suburban rear seat bolts and clamps" (in the title; but, not mentioned in the message-body) As Cletis posted, they were carriage bolts. They were not a high-domed carriage bolts, but they were not an elevator bolt. A regular carriage bolt (standard hardware) will work. A wing nut was used (standard hardware will work), and there was a special washer/clamp/spacer that was curved to fit the seat-frame-base tube. That washer/clamp/spacer had a flat surface on the top (these are not standard hardware). pictures (and a little text) are worth a thousand words (sorry about the blurry close-up focus) NOTE: no personal buying/selling should take place in this forum. Place a Want Ad in the Swap Meet (good luck - these are rare). Be sure you have your email address listed in your Profile. You might have to arrange for someone to send you a sample, so that you can fabricate the washer/clamp/spacer. You would then HAVE TO return the sample-part to the sender. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 4,261 "Hey! I sound like Darth Vader!! | | "Hey! I sound like Darth Vader!! Is that the correct material for the block? Brass? I could easily makes those out of steel or aluminum. You wouldn't have actual dimensions of that block, would you?

I do not know the material. Steel or aluminum would do fine. It is unpainted and unrusted metal. I do not think it is stainless steel, but that would work too. You would not want to paint it, because it would chip when the seats are removed/replaced (if they are/were replaced - that is why many seats are lost for/to posterity).
If I have not put that piece back in place (and, if I can easily find it), I take more photos and post them.

It would be very simple to make, that is why I wanted to see if I could find one. I will post in the want ads. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 62 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 62 | Trod: The part you are looking for is 466123 Washer Special used starting in 1936 Suburbans and used up until probably 1955,perhaps later.I have six of them and will forward them to you if you would like them. (no charge) They are no use to me now as my 1939 Suburban is as finised as it will ever be. I just don't know what brass is going to cost. It was 3/4" X 3/4" which is the exact size square they are supposed to be. I gave the material to a guy at work on Wednesday. He is going to see how many he can get out of the 12" piece. I will keep everyone posted. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | | | | | | Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 3 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 3 | Trod,
