I've got a set of good looking 12v trailer lights that I'd like to use on my 50 6v truck.

I ordered 6v bulbs, which have a single contact point.

The light housings have two contact points.

May I make these work by putting a small piece of copper foil in the light fitting to connect both terminals to the single terminal bulb?

Thanks! Dickson

Don't jump the contacts. Throw away the single filament bulb and buy a #1154 dual filament 6v bulb. You may have to shop around to find one.

I believe that a wire for the tail light and a wire for the brake light were run to the tail light assembly in 1950. There may have been separate sockets in the original assembly for each or may have been a single dual filament bulb. Makes no difference --- solder the brake wire to the "bright" filament contact wire of your trailer light assembly and solder tail light wire to the "not-so-bright" filament contact wire of your trailer light assembly.

Make sure that the body and/or bracket of the trailer light assembly has a good ground to the truck.
