Anyone have any info on changing a cable drive to electronic? Any company making a look a like original type that is electronic not cable? Fixing to put a 4L60E trans in. Thanks for any help!!

doubt you'll find a look-alike in electronic, but knowing the year and make would be helpful

My truck is a 51 3100 series. The original stuff is used up nothing to work from so I have to start from scratch.

I'm making a set of electronic original appearing gauges for my truck, I'll find the thread for you.

FYI,
I put in an AutoMeter 5" speedo in my 51 panel.
It's electronic and is hooked up to a Turbo 400.
Works great turns out to be quite accurate.

It's not original, but fits in the hole where the old one was.

There is a few companies that make a box that will convert the speedo cable to electronic pulse but they are a little pricey. It would be less expensive to change over from electronic to cable. I ran a search on the net and came up with tons of sites that tell you how to do the conversion. I converted my 700r4 from electronic to cbale.And the 4l60E is just basically a 700r4. Its really noit that hard to do and takes a couple of hours to do. It requires removing the tail shaft housing and changing some gears out. There is one company called PATC transmissions that had tons of stuff and the folks there are really good at answering questions that I had. And its not very expensive. I think the gears cost me around 30 bucks. And the speedo gear housing was like 10 bucks.

The issue might also be in the wiring harness because I'm using a 5.3/4L60E combination and I don't know what I might run into on the computer harness. Shift patterns etc.?? Anyone been down that road? I put a 700R4 in my Corvette and changed the elect. to cable but my engine is carb eng so no other issues there just not sure on FI on the 5.3 and computer.

This company will rebuild your stock speedometer and gauges, but add modern electronic internals. I talked with them some time ago but have never sent mine to them. Again, not the cheapest alternative, but a neat solution I think.

They used to have a set of 47-53 gauges in their gallery, but have reworked their website since I was looking and must have took them down.
