However I need a oil pump and filter system setup. I'm pretty sure i need a oil pump (m-45) its shorter and the holes are different than the other 3 pumps i have. (that are all the same) I would like an external remote filter mount and spin on filter.
Is it that simple for the full pressure 235 that I have?
I'm drowning in spare parts that are making me confused about the oil system. The 216 is a splash type and the older 235s are only partial pressure? I Just what to make sure that I have the right oil system and pressure when i fire up. THE LATER MODEL 235 I HAVE, WHAT EXTERNAL PLUMBING AND FILTER IS RECOMMEND? THE PSI DIFF BETWEEN THE OLDER AND THE NEWER MAKES ME THINK THAT THE EXTERNAL FILTER ON THE OLDER IS ONLY THE LOW % FILTRATION AND THE HIGHER PSI ON THE LATER 235 I WILL BE USING IS FULL FILTRATION? BASICALLY I'M TRYING TO IDENTIFY WHAT I CAN USE OFF THE OTHER OLDER 235S AND WHAT I NEED TO BUY. OIL PUMP? EXTERNAL FILTER OR RESUSE?
Thanks for all your help, mike

You can use the original optional/accessory canister/cartridge filtration system; or, you could use a spin-on filter and a remote filter head, as long as there is a restriction in the input line to the filter head. Wait to hear what diameter input restriction hole is suggested - I think I have read that a 1/8" hole is small enough.

I'm understanding that i'll only get partial filtration ___%?. also the pickup screen housing has a bolt that supports it to one of the crank bearing 2nd or 3rd caps, but the model 235 i'm using doesn't have that hole (3769716). When i look online at auto parts stores the oil pump is different for 58-62 than 53-55 235. can i use the older pumps and a newer type flat round p/u creen that doesn't need that bolt support?

There is too much help here not to. The pride I feel owning these older cars and trucks and show things to my boys makes it all worth it. Without ya'll it would be difficult. If it was easy everyone would do it.
Thanks for ya'lls time. Its an investment for the future to enjoy the past.

The by-pass filtration system is actually quite good. It only filters a small percentage of the oil flow, but all the oil gets filtered over time.
