Hi. I would like to change my stock 3.90 gear ratio for highway drivability. I have an opportunity to buy a third member from a '56 Nomad with a gear ration of 3.55. The picture I recieved looks like it will fit my axle housing. I asked the seller more about it and he said that the back of the axle housing is solid and not removable like mine. He's taking the hole assembly to the dump tomorrow morning, so I could use some information ASAP. Thanks for your time

The casting code is: Casting = 3707306
Date hard to read? AB2 02 Probably February 2nd, 1956, Detroit Gear and Axle, has 3.55 ratio.

The 3rd members do not interchange. The Passenger 3rd member has a more oval shape to it, and is much smaller than the Truck 3rd member.

Great, thanks for the response. I'll let him know I won't be buying it
