I know about 3 years ago a guy was posting on the oldgmctrucks website forum his progress in putting a 6-cylinder Cummins from a Dodge in a 3800 Chevy pickup.
You can search youtube and probably find someone whose done it.

I agree, a 6BT will be tight, however a 4BTAA with a tweaked fuel pump will put out 220hp all day long. more if you start with the 4.5 liter.
make sure you use the larger marine damper, the 4B shakes like a dog passing a peach pit at idle.

Had almost 8" left over using the stock radiator location. Drove nice, 900lbs over the front axle. 6BT will be more, sat nicely between the frame rails. Rear quarter panels are just being painted.
Grigg sent me over to 4btswaps when I asked about putting one in here. Great site.

not many 4bt engines in the uk ,and 6bt,s are getting a bit thin allthough thers still a few about ,most have gone for export to africa along wih perkins and bedford diesels
bedford 330 was going to be my first option but they are almost impossable to buy theses days ,,
