Adjust the lever that goes from the carburetor to the transmission. I would shorten it a little bit and try it.

Give it a try, you can alway put it back and go the other way if you have to.

I can't remember. Does a glide have a vacuum modulator on it? That would affect when it shifts. I thought the lever going to the carburetor was for the kickdown adjustment. Such as doing 30 mph in high gear, flooring the gas pedal, and it would kick the trans into low gear.

Thats what i thought also it does have a mod valve, i always thought that the mod valve had a small allen screw that you turn, , when i replaced the old one i took it apart to see and nothing was in there, , so i am back to were i was sorry , but theres git to a way to adjust it, , its just a hair too long , i afraid that if i go to sell it, it might hurt, , but i its for me too , now i fether the gas and it changes

Thanks

Do they make a adjustable mod valve?

Is this a cast iron glide or aluminum?

If it's original to the car it will be cast iron.

I still think that you need to adjust the rod between the carb and the transmission. Adjustable modulators are available for some transmissions but they didn't come from the factory with them.

cast iron tranny ,,, so you think extending the rod a little will do it or shorten it

thanks

if the throttle linkage pushes on the rod as the throttle is opened, then shorten the rod and it should shift sooner.

If the throttle linkage pulls on the rod as the throttle is opened then the rod will need to be made a bit longer.

I don't remember if the throttle linkage pushes or pulls on the rod to the transmission.

Also, make sure the vacuum supply to the modulator valve is ample. Make sure there aren't any holes in the line to the modulator, and make sure there is vacuum at the modulator.

If you pull the vacuum hose off the modulator and transmission fluid comes out, even a small amount, replace the modulator.

That is correct, adjust it at the transmission. Go a turn at a time, and try it. It takes some time but you'll get it.
