I have this thing wired, I dont have turn signals, I have tail lights, brake lights. When I turn the lever I have a solid light, no flashy. The schematic is not clear to me. The red wire from the turn signal goes to stop switch? Where does it terminate? Where it says to cut and tape at the bottom of schematic is not clear to me either. Any help appreciated. Shelly

I won't be much help. but I will try. I replaced wiring harness on my 54 and at the same time went from an add on box with a cancel button to the aftermarket chrome lever that operates more like regular turn signals with manual cancel. Personally I don't really like it as lever is too short and is quite a reach with large diameter of steering wheel. When I first installed turn signals would light both lights thru the stop light circuit. basically, you end up breaking stock stop signal circuit and running it thru the turn signal switch. as far as not flashing, I was fortunate enough that flashers had already been wired in on my truck and it matched the wiring diagram so I just cleaned it up with new wires.

This is for the Chieftain 7 wire turn signals.

Yellow to left front turn signal.
Green to right front turn signal
Brown to right rear turn signal
Orange to left rear turn signal

There are two posts on the brake/stoplight switch. One is "hot". The other is not. Red wire from turn signal switch goes to the brake switch post that is not hot.

You should be left with a black and a blue wire. If your flasher is 2 pole, twist the black wire and blue wire together, and fasten both to the post marked "L".
If your flasher is three-pole, fasten the black wire to "L", the blue wire to to "P". Whether you have a 2 pole or 3 pole flasher, fasten your hot wire from the ignition to the flasher pole marked "X"
