Trying to remove the stock master cylinder, I can't figure out how to remove the 7/8" pivot pin that holds the brake linkage to the MC. There are two "ears" on the top front of the MC, the brake linkage goes between with the pin sliding through all three. A small clip (I removed) bolts the the mc and slides in to a groov on the pin. Do I need to drop the whole MC to the floor and beat on it with a Hammer? Whats the real trick?

You might try tapping it in towards the frame to loosen it, then push it back through. If that doesn't work, take the nut off the bottom the pedal where it attaches to the arm, then give it a goo solid stike on the side of the arm where the pedal rod goes through it. It's just like breaking loose the taper on a tie rod or balljoint. Don't it it on the threads, as that will damage them. Once the pedal part is separated from the arm, the entire assembly can be removed from the truck, allowing for easier access to the pivot pin.

since you removed the clip, nothing is holding it in place anymore except 54 years of use. put some WD, Kroil, etc whatever on it, let it soak, then get a good size brass punch (or like me, use a stick) and drive it out. oh also, there's a grease nipple. take that out and blast some WD in that hole, that'll help a lot
