The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area The Electrical Bay 59 wiring diagram needed

Working on my 59/3600 trying to get the dome light to work(never worked since I bought it last year) and discovered a brown wire with a white stripe hanging down when I removed the switch from the dash. I connected the plug to an open pole on the switch and the light worked but stayed on constantly. Where would this wire go to make it work like it should?????

On my 57 I believe the dome lite has constant voltage and the switch makes and breaks the ground connection. If I remember right the terminal is at the front of the switch - knob end. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, its been awhile since I worked on it.

the wire you have hanging is the hot wire, and the only one to the light - ground for the light is the light mounting to the cab

if you can see under there the terminals have code letters that indicate what they are - there's no brown/white runner shown in the wiring diag

the interior lite is controlled by the rotation of the knob - one way dims dash lites, other way [click past full brightness of dash lites] gives the interior lite - find the terminal that has the dash lites on it and the other will be right close - may be it was disconnected cuz the switch messed up and the PO couldn't turn it off!
