For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2012 Posts: 36 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2012 Posts: 36 | Hi, I have title to a 55 second series Chevrolet truck. I have heard a couple guys talk about my truck and they said it was a GMC and not a Chevrolet. I overheard them say that the cab was a GMC. Can someone tell me the difference between a Chevrolet and a GMC cab. My cab is a "big window" cab. Thanks again for your help in advance. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,636 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,636 | The GMC cab for second series has round gauges where the Chevy has a single triangular shaped cluster above the steering column. That's one obvious difference I can think of. | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | The main difference in the cab is the dashboard. The Chevrolet has a V shaped geage cluster , with the Ammeter, Gas, Temp, and Oil gauges across the top of the V. The GMC has a more or less rectangular gauge cluster, with all of the gauges being circular and set in a die cast panel. There are some other differences in the shape of the dash due to the differences in the guage clusters, plus the GMC would have a provision for a radiator core support brace that is not present on the Chevrolet (exept Suburban/Panels) on the firewall.
