The engine is a 54' 235. I had needed to repaint the valve cover to match the rest of the engine. I also had a little bit paint paint(rattle can) left over from painting the fan, oit bath filter, block breather, and water pump wheel so I thought that I would paint the lettering on the valve cover. I had prep the valve cover to paint and then I painted the letters with metallic black. Once that was dried, I taped off the letters and finished the cover with the same blue that engine has. The small things bring a smile to my face and the bigger jobs bring relief to my mind. Bread

Bowtietim, that is a great idea about brushing the letters, the light bulb didn't click till I read you post. I'll keep that in mind when it is time to touch up the letters.
The funny thing Tiny, the valve cover is hanging on the wall for the time being.
Lugnutz, I like the old oilbaths air filters. They have a distinct look to them. I am sure your friend will enjoy it.
