The instructions show 3 different ways to hook up the amp meter. It appears that all I have to do is break into the hot wire that goes directly from the battery to the relay on the rad support. -Wire from battery to positive on the guage. Wire from negative on the guage back to the relay.- Sound correct. The instructions recomment 8 guage wire. Don't think that's what's coming from the battery now.

Go ahead and hook up the wires as shown. If the gage reads wrong just swap the wires. You might want to use double nuts on the connections mine came lose after a few months.
if it dosen't need fixed, break it
