i posted this on the big bolts side -didnt get any answers ? maybe this is where it will happen ? anyway i got a pvc system for my 270 engine ,on installing it i noticed the line w/the pcv valve in it -when you suck on either end it is the same ? is my valve stuck open -bad ? if so where can i find another? also some of the ones i seen at the "stovebolt reunion in kc " they all had a big dia. cap and tube to the block ! mine is smaller /what trucks had the bigger one ? /anybody got one ? thanks mike

The PCV valve comes apart. There is a valve and a spring inside. The valve has a hole in it. Sucking on either end you are sucking air through the hole. Manifold vacuum should open the valve. Take it apart and clean it.

Somewhere in the mid '50s they were changed from an oil bath breather to a paper filter one. That may be the smaller/bigger you noticed. The one on my Suburban is the paper filter one from a '59.

hi cletis i believe the truck i seen at the reunion /was yours ? the top of the tube was bigger than the one i got& used ? anyway i will try to disassemble the pvc valve ,like i said i could blow thru it both ways /made me think it was stuck open ? thanks mike

It never closes.
Applying vacuum to the engine side reduces the opening size.
