Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 59 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 59 | I replaced my old 235 with a new to me 235. I have compression, weak spark and gas through the carberator. I made sure I was top dead center and took the ignition wire and unhooked it from the resister and bolted it to the positive side of the coil. any help would be appreciated. If your vehicle has a resistor then it should also have a resistor bypass circuit to provide twelve volts to the coil while cranking the engine to start, does it have that circuit? Cranking is what is done to the engine with a hand crank or starter motor, running is what the engine does once the engine is started by the cranking. Are you saying that that the starter cannot "crank" the engine over so it can start if the conditions are correct for it to do so? | | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 2,544 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 2,544 | You might want to check your ground connection. Also check the condition of your battery and make sure it has a full charge in it. I would caution against using jumper wires and keep things the way they are supposed to be, just make sure everything is the way its supposed to be. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 59 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 59 | Found the problem. The hose coming off the air intake to the windshield wiper was leaking. I plugged the hose up and it fired right up. Thanks, Bert | | |
