Guys, after realizing that my charging system is KAPUT, I'm going to install a alternator. Does anybody have any reference photos for brackets. The 235 I have had a generator on it, now I am looking for some ideas on brakets for the alternator.

You can see some examples at Randy Rundle's website (he's the moderator here in the electrical bay).

skiffman - i "poor boyed" mine after i saw how much they were wanting for the "store bought" kind. i took the original generator bracket at the bottom- scooted it over a little(to the front i think) drilled another hole in it and used it for the bottom bracket. i used an all thread with nuts and washers as the rod for the bottom. i took the top adjustment bracket (arm)and flattened it out - turned it upside down and it fit just right. i elongated the hole in it a little to give me a little adjustment room. not original but then neither is the alternator.

I used the original generator upper bracket, and the lower alternator bracket from a '70 250. I had to drill a new hole in the 250's bracket, but it worked quite nicely.

Guys,

After searching the shop here at work, I "configured" a sweet mounting system bracket deal. I used the bottom generator bracket on the motor for the bottom.I put a bolt through the entire bracket(front to rear). For the top or adjustment bracket, I used a bracket off a 366 chevy bigblock. Worked perfect. The bracket on top actually forms and is bent to the exhaust manifold. Hooked up the alternator and she is charging. 13.98 at the battery, 13.99 at the alternator. I want to thank all the guys who responded to my posts. She is working SWEET !!!!!!!
