Im trying to have put in a rear license plate light on my 1964 k10t. I replaced my rear electrical harness with a new one. It has an extra "connection" running along the harness in light green wire. Is this wiring for the license plate?

There is also a wire coming out of a cluster of others near the starter under the hood with a connection that would fit to the connection on the rear wiring harness.

If in fact this extra wire on the rear harness is for the the license plate light should I plug it into the wiring/connection I mention above? Thanks John

John shoot me an email with a couple of photos of the wiring and I will see but It sounds like back up light wiring if it is light green. I will check my wiring diagrams to be sure.

I believe the brown wire that is common to both the left and right side tail lights is the wire that is used to power the license plate light. This wiring diagram confirms the brown wire: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?p=2955936
Dark green would be for the right side turn signal indicator.

This is helpful. In the last diagram with the detail of the taillight....there is a symbol on the brown wire leading to the license plate light. Is that a fuse?

I think that symbol is for a plug to power the circuit. That way a stepside, vs. a fleetside, vs. a chassis cab could have a separate length license plate wire for whichever application is needed.
