I've just got a big 3 ton gmc fresh out of a farmers field. It appears to have most of the wiring intact, however I have a loose wire coming off the gas tank. It is attached to the top of the tank along with another wire or two. All looks ok but that one wire. My question is where is that wire supposed to be going ? It is an insulated wire but i dont know much more.

Any help for me out there ?

Thanks !

Is it attached to the sender? If so, it goes to the gauge.

Alright, that's actually a bad picture because thats my tank ground. Since the tank brackets have a rubber insulator, I wanted to make sure the tank had a good ground. However, the stud in the center of the plate should have a wire on it that goes to your gauge.

Hi Troy,

The wire on the left is ground ( goes to ground.) The wire on the right goes to the back of the fuel gauge. It is your sender signal.

Thanks Mike, I kinda figured it out... I will have to pull the tank, it needs cleaning... Then I can hook it up correctly, hopefully smile

Regards, Troy
