How hard is it to stop a 46 Chevy 3/4 ton with manual brakes. Because I haven't been able to find a brake booster setup that will fit all the ones I have found are for 1/2 tons. I am swapping the rear ends out. Putting a 14 bolt out of a 81 Chevrolet 3/4 ton with a 3.73 gear ratio so I can go faster than 45mph.

The manual drum brakes on my '56 are barely adequate at higher speeds. They stop me OK but it takes a lot farther to do it than with my Suburban with power front discs.

Seems like someone on here has built a bracket for dual cylinder in 3/4 tons. I'm sure they'll be along shortly.

Doesn't matter if for half ton or 3/4, just so it fits in the truck. Disc brake kits are available for your front, 80's Corvette MC for front disc/rear drum setup(factory) are a good MC to use; or just use a MC for a drum/drum setup.

'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.

My '41 3/4 ton stops just fine with the original brakes. I can lock the wheels if I need to.

I suppose the brakes would fade a bit if I were racing it, but I don't. It also takes a bit more foot pressure that my 2010 Ranger.

Don't forget the brakes were designed to stop the truck under full load, I don't do that either.
