I have been out looking over the wiring on the 1960 Viking L60 and I must say it's a mess!!!.

There are a bunch of added switches that don't work anything I can tell, but they all have wires, and the stock wiring is not much better.

I pulled out the head light switch, and ONLY the head lights worked, nothing else. No brake lights or turn signals. the signals have been "repaired" once with one of those add on levers.

It dose start and run so the key switch is working, but it's not the stock switch. Cab marker lamps are rusted, and broken, as is half of the tail lamps.

It's a good thing I'm good at this kind of thing or I would be lost. I just have to decide where to start.....

Wow ... that's some dangerous stuff!

My 54 wasn't as bad as that, but it was close. I was driving it at night (one eve when I first got it) and the headlights went out ... a minute later they came back on ... then, all of a sudden, it turned into the 4th of July under the dash -- an empty light socket was bouncing around and grounding as it bounced -- hahaha!!! Talk about shocking experiences, eh?

I'm not restoring but hotrodding, so I got an EZ-Wire kit and rewired the entire truck. You can see my 10-day photo diary at my site (link below sig).

I found bare spots on wires that were rubbing against metal for years all over the truck!

Lets see,,, the puprple one goes to the starter, the green one goes to the temp sender, the red one goes around those other wires to hold everything out of the way.
OH DRAT,,, start the truck and turn on everything that works. Cut a wire and see if everything still works Proceed to the next wire and cut it,,, see if everything still works

Keep the birds away! or you will have a whole family move in. Looks like someone had a problem in the past and just cut all the wrapping off. you might be able to save some of it by just removing the extra wires thet are for god nows what and re taping it back up. The rear harness is simple to re make, its the under dash that can be a pain.

Speaking of Birds, I had one building a nest in there already, the fuel filler neck is missing, and a bird had filled the area between the tank and cab side wall with hey, had a right fine nest going he did, but I fixed he good, I tossed out the nest and stuck a water bottle in the hole.....

I plane on removing anything that is "EXtra" amd seeing what is left, then go from there. I hope the wire loom to the rear is ok and it's just a case of bad lights or blow fuse, i really need to get more time to work on this truck, but the wife keeps finding thing for me to do instead.....
