Enlighten me, please. What color should the engine be in my 1965 C10 - it is a 283 and made at the Norwood, OH plant (if that matters)? Gray right? or Chevy Orange? Things that keep me up at night.... Going for an original look. Who sells 'said color'? Thanks for you guidance!

The Bill Hirsch lighter gray is really close to the "Original" V8 gray. Their Dark Gray is for the sixes. Filling Station FS-359 is dark too.

I've done a lot of looking over the years though and I think that next time I do a '60-'66 V8 that I may well just go with something like a DupliColor Industrial Gray Engine Enamel. It's close.

One thing's for sure, the New Ford Gray is a nice color but is way lighter than the grays Chevy used.

i checked into the DupliColor and the dude at the paint store kept showing me the 1612 PRIMER. Is he being a tad dense - I want the finish color/top coat. This requires more investigation... Watson - bring me my spyglass!

Boy, this inter web net e thingy is kinda cool. From a google search... Called these folks out of Buffalo and found a nice looking match.

TemperCoat 600 - #34 medium gray (feedback please)
850 max temp and no color loss.

Draw back, you gotta buy a gallon... Might be worth it for the match. Need to buy from a retail paint specialty store. they said "brush, roller or spray" - i may use all of those...
