I had to take the 4 speed top loader trans out of our 55.2 3600 yesterday. The PO had installed a PTO on the side of it. I removed that cuz I didn't need it. THe parking brake handle is next to the shifter between the gas pedal and the shifter. It has a handle on it that you are supposed to squeeze to release the parking brake paw. I am not sure if the spring is weak or what, but the parking brake does not hold its position when applied. The paw does not fall down into position on the teeth bolted to the side of the trans. Here is a pic of the handle.
