I am in the process of restoring a 1941 G4112 YP model 1 1/2 ton Chevy. I can help you with some cab related questions as they are basically the same as 1/2 ton trucks. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 1,554 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 1,554 | You need to look at this http://www.46chevytruck.com I have used this lots, I hope my 41 looks close to this good when I'm done. For a while cars did not have opening doors on the driver's side, only the curb side | | | | | Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 1,596 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 1,596 | Kip, while I thought that for a long time too, i noticed recently that while trucks in these years only had one lock on the passenger side, GM cars (46 and up at least) had locks on both sides. I'm not sure why cars would be different. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 1,048 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 1,048 | 46:
I was referring to cars built in the teens and early 20's that only had doors on the passenger side. I'm not sure when the various companies started putting doors on both sides. I'm also not sure when external door locks were put on both sides.
A wild guess on why cars may have had locks on both sides before trucks could be that taller truck cabs made it easier to slide across the seat. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2001 Posts: 629 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2001 Posts: 629 | Let me know what you are looking for.
